XII - Utilization of agricultural residues in cellulosic nanocomposite for advanced packaging products

C. Bruzzese, J. Bras, M. Hassan, A. Dufresne

XII - 1 - Objective

The project aims to prepare cellulosic nano-crystallites from agricultural residues (bagasse, sugar beet, rice straw), which will be used in biodegradable packaging materials to improve mechanical strength and barrier properties. Characterization of cellulose nanorods will be carried out using XRD, SEM & TEM , AFM, FTIR, 13C NMR. The properties of cellulosic nanocomposites prepared will be studied using physical and mechanical testing (DMA). Barrier properties of packaging composites will be measure.

This projet is an Egide cooperation : Imhotep projet with the National Research Center, CELLULOSE AND PAPER DEPARTMENT & ADVANCED MATERIALS AND NANOTECHNOLOGY LAB. EL-BEHOOS STREET, DOKKI,12622 GIZA, EGYPT
